Close Knit September

Saturday 25th September 2-4pm

Platt Hall, Platt Fields

This month we will be preparing for Remembrance Day by knitting and crocheting remembrance and peace poppies. We will be thinking about how wartime knitters were engaged on the ‘home front’ to make warm items for servicemen and women, as we take a look at some vintage patterns from the era.

Close Knit is a friendly and free group and all materials are provided. If you have any red, green or white yarn that you would like to use, please bring it along.

Hope to see you there!

July’s Close Knit

Hi all,

Close Knit,
Saturday 30th July
The Gallery of Costume, Platt Hall, Rusholme, Mannchester

Get out your surrealist sun-cream, it’s hot enough to celebrate Elsa Schiaparelli (who features in a scorchingly stylish exhibition at the Gallery of Costume) and her collaborations with Salvador Dali! Let’s escape the mundane, worship the weird and drift in dreamscapes as we create our own surrealist masterpieces! We will make extraordinary lobster claw mittens as we have a look at the fantastic results of their collaboration.

All materials will be provided but if you want to bring your own, you’ll need sets of 3.5mm and 3.75mm dpns plus 2 holding dpns of a similar size and approx 135 m of aran weight yarn in pink, brown or blue, depending on if you like your lobster cooked or not!

Close Knit is a friendly, free adult group. Do come along!

June’s Session

Plenty of opportunities for chatting without going too badly wrong!

Close Knit it a free friendly group and all materials are provided. If you want to bring your own you’ll need 4mm needles and aran/worsed weight cotton in a colour of your choice (approx 250 yards). The Double Knit Dotty Snood!
As requested during last month’s session, this month we will revisit the tricky double knit dotty snood that we embarked on last month. Dont worry if you weren’t at the last one, you can cast on this month too!

Close knit is a free and friendly event. All materials are provided but if you would like to bring your own this time you will need two DK yarns in contrasting colours and 3.75mm dpns or circular needles, 40-50 cm long, or long enough to create a magic loop.

I knew I was taking those pictures for a reason!

Here’s a look at some of the recent sessions. Didn’t we make a lot?!
